Precious Stones

The Precious Stones, formed in 1991 after Aslan called it quits with replacement singer Eamo Doyle.  

The Precious Stones consisted of previous Aslan members, Joe Jewell (Lead Vocals), Tony McGuiness (Bass), Billy McGuinness (Guitar), Alan Downey (Drums), along with a new 5th member,  Dave McGinley.

They released 3 Singles, “Jesus Says He Loves Me”, “Won’t Let You Down”, and “Red Sky”, all on the Solid record label. One of the B sides of the “Jesus Says He Loves Me” single was “Precious” which later appeared on the Aslan album Here Comes Lucy Jones.

While the Precious Stones didn’t achieve the widespread  success that Aslan did, they gigged extensively for a few years.

Notably, their single Red Sky was included on an album called “A – Z of Irish Rock” which also featured This Is by Aslan.
